These days climate change is in our face pretty much all the time

When I finished high school and started uni at Monash, that wasn’t the case

I wanted to make videogames in high school, but I was already watching and reading a lot of climate change fiction

(I really love disaster movies)

Terminator Gene is a pretty pulpy adventure novel, but the end of it has a heist that happens in New Orleans as a hurricane is bearing down on it.

There’s a lot of discussion of how a hurricane would affect New Orleans, which sits below sea level.

When I read it in 2003, it got me really interested in how storms form.

When my uni preferences were due in 2005, Hurricane Katrina happened, and it all became very real.

So I ended up studying the weather at uni.

Climate change became a bigger and bigger part of the media during my degree

And as I finished, The Black Saturday bushfires undeniably brought climate change to our doorsteps.
